Set up twenty eight years ago, the Computing Technology Industry Association (or CompTIA for short) is a not for profit organisation. They've developed progressively & now are world leaders in IT certifications that are vendor-neutral. What this means is they are able to provide & over-see independent industry-recognised I.T. exams and certifications that don't support a single organisation's interests above another. With the current shift towards inter connectivity & systems 'convergence', this is seen as a welcome move for the I.T. student, as it offers cross-platform learning and a comprehension of integration. The individual A+ 2009 examinations are now: CompTIA A+ Essentials (examination 220-701) and 'CompTIA' A+ Practical Application (examination 220/702.) The 4 original examinations have been stream-lined into 2 brand new examinations, & some additional up-dated information has been added. The previous structure was one compulsory 'essentials' examination & 3 electives, of which just one needed to be taken. Nowadays the marketplace demands professionals with know-how that was in all four previous exams. Trainees will learn that knowledge from the 2 new obligatory 'A+' programs. An upgrade examination has been created by 'CompTIA' for those who have the old accreditation. BR/003 is the exam reference. Extra training will almost certainly be required, particularly for individuals who just initially studied for two of the 4 'electives'. The new technology subject areas will obviously involve some extra studying.

Be expecting to allow yourself about one hundred to one hundred and fifty hours studying time for the A+ exams, and for the N+ about seventy five to one hundred hours.
